Personal Interests

Lydia enjoys backpacking with friends as a section hiker on the Appalachian Trail (although she is not fond of the dehydrated food!) Her longest trip was 38 miles in spring of 2007, and to date she has completed a total of 164 miles. She also hikes along Bolin Creek, in Duke Forest and in the Eno River State Park. Lydia also enjoys biking with her family, running, and occasionally squeezing in a workout at the YMCA.

Born and raised in Ohio, Lydia grew up a Cincinnati Reds fan and stays in touch with her love of baseball as a participant in a fantasy league that began eleven years ago. Twelve teams participate in the league; her team (the Red Stockings) has been the only female-run team in the league's existence.

She played bridge with a regular group from 1994-2002 and taught a beginning bridge class through Duke Community Education in the late 1990's. Lydia started a book club in 2002 with five friends that meets every month.
